To be honest, this quote kind of creeps me out. Along the same lines, therapist and author David Richo writes, "Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful parts of us." I'm not sure I agree with that either, at least not wholeheartedly, even though there's a sign with that saying hanging in my office.
What I do absolutely LOVE is the idea that wounds can be redeemed. That a seed of hope can grow into happiness, health, and healing; blossoming despite or even from our hardest moments. Sometimes we need to nurture those beautiful seeds of forgiveness, grace, and love. I love being the person to whom my clients can show their deepest wounds, and helping them not just heal, but flourish.
